Colorscape

A selection of sold original paintings on canvas (2003-2010) by Shirley Williams

This abstract landscape series was primarily focused on how color and texture affect our emotions. We react at a gut level the same way we experience a landscape when gazing toward a horizon. In each painting, a specific color chord was struck. Similar to music, colors contain tones that create specific effects subconsciously. Combining my color choices in each painting with tactile texture and rhythmic line heightens the sensation of internal energy.

My abstract landscape paintings explore this heightened sense of energy as expressions of color and organic texture. Rather than depicting specific scenes, this series takes an imaginary journey in nature that feels familiar at a subconscious level. A supplementary blog post can be read here - Evolution of a Painting Series

This series of paintings was widely exhibited and collected internationally. It fills my heart with joy to know each one graces the walls of beautiful residential homes, major corporations and public spaces far and wide.

Thumbnails are not in proportion.
